Gerald Glen Simpson, 70, of Snow Lake Shores, MS died on Sunday, September 9, 2012 at Desoto Baptist Hospital in Southaven, MS.
Glen was born September 15, 1941 in Ashland, MS to the late Linward Giles and Margaret Eugenia Ursery Simpson. He was a loving brother and a handyman that loved to help out strangers in need of help. He was very active and had a passion for helping out his community with the Snow Lake Shores Fire Department until his health failed him. He was past President of the Snow Lake Shores Corporation and was of the church of Christ belief.
Survivors include one daughter, Jennifer Bristow and her husband Michael of Jonesboro; one son Gerald Andrew Simpson and his wife Martina of Columbia, SC; four step-children, Lance Byrd of Georgia, Mark Byrd of Horn Lake, Scott Byrd of Louisiana, and Gregg Byrd of Memphis, three brothers, Bobby Simpson of Virginia, Willie Simpson of Jonesboro, AR, Jimmy Simpson and his wife Ann of Olive Branch, MS; two sisters, Betty Gee and her husband Tom and Ann Simpson both of Memphis; 4 grandchildren, 10 step grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, 10 step great grandchildren, and a host of other family and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two wives, Lois Byrd Simpson and Francis Byrd Simpson, one step daughter, Susie Boyd.
Funeral Service will be at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday in the Covington Funeral Home Chapel with Michael Meredith officiating. Burial will follow at Covington Memorial Gardens Cemetery with Emerson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Honorary pallbearers are Flake Farmer and the Snow Lake Shores Fire Department.
Visitation will be at Covington Funeral Home from 11 a.m. until service time.
