Gladys (Marie) Sharp, 95, of Jonesboro, went to join her husband Ralph on Friday, March 12, 2021, at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro.
Born in Saffell, Arkansas, Marie was a W.W. II Bride and a Rosie the Riveter, following her husband Ralph during the war effort and working in New York, California, Texas and Kentucky. Marie was a public school teacher for a few years following the War, but worked most of her adult life as a licensed Social Worker for the State of Florida. She and Ralph moved to Jonesboro from West Palm Beach, Florida in 1976.
Marie was a member of Northside Church of Christ and enjoyed gardening, canning and crocheting. She was also an avid reader and was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Sharp, and a daughter, Mary Jeanette Sharp.
Survivors include 2 daughters and sons-in-law: Lanafae and Robert Stephens of Jonesboro, and Judy and Leroy Gregory of Georgia; 1 son and daughter-in-law: Stephen and Peggy Sharp of Florida; 3 granddaughters, 10 great grandchildren, 1 brother, 1 sister and several nephews and nieces.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday in Emerson Memorial Chapel with Ray Keller officiating. Burial will follow in Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery with nephews serving as pallbearers. Visitation will precede the funeral service from 1:00-2:00 p.m.
