Gladys Newell Fraley

June 21, 1921 — April 2, 2012

Gladys Lucille Newell Fraley, 90, of Jonesboro, died Monday, April 2, 2012, at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro.

Lucille was born in Caraway, Arkansas, and had lived most of her life in Jonesboro. She was a homemaker and had worked at Couch’s Bar-B-Q in Jonesboro for several years. She was a member of Nettleton Baptist Church and was preceded in death by her husband, Virgil Ray Newell, her parents, James A. (Bud) and Clara Finley Sairls, 2 brothers, 5 sisters, a daughter, Virgie Newell Dunnam, a son, Bill Newell, and a great granddaughter, Shelby Bryant.

She is survived by her daughter, Virginia Newell Bryant of Jonesboro; her son and daughter-in-law: James W. (Dub) and Phyllis Newell of Jonesboro; her daughter-in-law, Bernice Kelly Newell of Pocahontas; 11 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and 6 great, great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon at 2:00 in Emerson Memorial Chapel with Dr. Stan Ballard officiating. Burial will follow in Nettleton Cemetery.

Active pallbearers include Blake Jones, Brandon Jones, Chris Davis, Lawson Linn, Zachery Holloway and Justin Dunnam. Honorary pallbearers include Brayden Box, Max Clements and Brent Morgan.

Visitation will be held Wednesday afternoon from 1:00-2:00 in Emerson Chapel, prior to the service.
