Glada Stafford, 85, of Jonesboro, formerly of Marked Tree died Wednesday, April 6, 2011, at her home. She has resided in Jonesboro for the past 11 years and was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Jonesboro, Arkansas. Glada graduated from Arkansas State College with a BSE and was a teacher at Marked Tree teaching mostly the fifth grade. She was a member of the Delta Kappa Gamma Professional Honorary Society of Women Educators; the Poinsett County Retired Teachers Association and the Arkansas Retired Teachers Association. Glada was preceded in death by her parents, Pauline and Leo Bartholomew Sr.; brother, Tom Bartholomew and his wife Francis.
Survivors include her husband, C. P. Stafford, of the home; son, Trey Stafford and wife Jenna of Jonesboro; daughter, Paula Johnson and husband Scott of Nashville, Tennessee; brother, Leo Bartholomew Jr. and wife Shirley of Jonesboro; six grandchildren, Mitchell and Rachel Johnson of Nashville, Tennessee; Ellie, Treyson, John David and Chaz Stafford all of Jonesboro.
Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M., Saturday at the First United Methodist Church of Marked Tree with Reverend Bruce Tippit and Reverend Patty Soward officiating and Emerson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Burial will follow at Harrisburg Memorial Park Cemetery with Calvin Timbs, Tom Bartholomew Jr., Tommy Stafford, Todd Bartholomew, Kyle Hopper and Byron Stafford serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Ruby Jean Boxley and Mattie Fleming. Visitation will be from noon until service time at the church.
