Gertrude June Ellingson

Gertrude June Ellingson, 86, of Jonesboro died Sunday March 23, 2014 at the NEA Baptist Hospital. Gertrude was born on July 29, 1927 in Oakland, California to the late Theodore and Gertrude E. Hartkorn Abbott. Gertrude and her husband Jay A. Ellingson moved to Black Rock in October of 1962 to start a Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Walnut Ridge.

She had lived in Jonesboro area since 1962 and was a homemaker. She had a love of helping others and dedicated her life to sharing the Bible message with others. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her former husband; Jay Ellingson.

Survived by her daughter; Ella Ellingson of Jonesboro. Brother; Teddy M. Abbott (Merette) of Sun Valley, Idaho. Funeral service will be announced at a later date with Emerson Funeral Home in charge. There will be no visitation. In lieu of flowers, family requests memorials be made to Bancorp South in memory of Gertrude June Ellingson.
