Geraldine "Jerri" Redden Helums

Geraldine Redden Helums, 81 of Jonesboro, passed from this life Thursday, January 11, 2024, at her home surrounded by family and friends. She was born to Lewis Herbert and Carrie Maxine Cox Wood in Winona, Mississippi, on November 10, 1942.

“Jerri” known by most, resided in Jonesboro since 2022 following residences in Southhaven, Mississippi and Mountain View, Arkansas.   She was of the Baptist belief.   Jerri was a homemaker much of her life raising four boys in West Memphis, Arkansas.  She loved cooking and many boasted she prepared the best meals they had ever tasted.   She loved music and had a beautiful singing voice.   Her hobbies included sewing and watching her boys participate in sporting events.  She achieved her Nursing degree at the age of 51 after continuing her undergraduate studies following the passing of her late husband Allen Wiley Redden.

In addition to her first husband, Allen Wiley Redden, she is preceded in death by her parents Lewis Herbert Wood and Carrie Maxine Cox Wood, brother Jeffery Glenn Wood and son Allen Davis Redden.

Jerri is survived by husband, Floyd Helums, of Southhaven; sister, Teresa Wood (Jim) Harrington of San Antonio, Texas; three sons, Paul (Jennifer) Dotson, Timothy (Amy) Redden of Jonesboro, and Donald Scott (Angila) Redden of Harrisburg, Arkansas; and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.  She also leaves a cousin Ola Parks whom held a special place in her heart throughout her life.  In addition, Ruth Ann Redden and David Bogard were special to her and assisted her greatly late in life.
