Gerald W. Cheshier

Gerald William Cheshier, age 85, of Jonesboro, Arkansas, died Tuesday evening, November 15, 2005, at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro.

Born in the Bowman community near Lake City, Arkansas, Mr. Cheshier moved to Wichita, Kansas in 1951 and then to Jonesboro in 1971. He was a farmer and worked several years for Coleman Lantern, Inc. in Wichita before returning to Jonesboro.

Mr. Cheshier was a member of the Windover Baptist Church in Jonesboro and was a U.S. Army veteran of W.W. II.

He was preceded in death by his wife: Juanita Bowers Cheshier on February 21, 2004; by 4 brothers: his twin brother Harold Cheshier, Boyce Cheshier, Wendell Cheshier, and Johnny Cheshier; and by 4 sisters: Alvie Bryant, Marie Bowers, Joyce Edney, and Tomazine Addison, and by his parents: Harrison Cheshier and Mogie Duncan Cheshier.

Survivors include: 2 Daughters: Jerri McClard, and Jeannette Morgan, both of Jonesboro;

1 Sister: Mary Sue Fields of Gig Harbor, Washington;

4 Grandchildren: Wayne McClard, Shellie Barnett, Dia Sawyer, and Jonathan Morgan;

6 Great Grandchildren: Daniel McClard, Alyssa McClard, Justus Sawyer, Elliette Sawyer, Jude Sawyer, and Lola Sawyer.

Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon, November 18, 2005, at 2:00 at Emerson Memorial Chapel in Jonesboro with Rev. Brad Higgins officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in Nettleton Cemetery with Emerson Funeral Home of Jonesboro in charge of arrangements.

Active pallbearers include John Sawyer, Jonathan Morgan, Brad Barnett, Wayne McClard, Daniel McClard, and Donnie Rickard.

Visitation will be held Thursday evening from 6-8 at Emerson Funeral Home in Jonesboro.
