Gerald Len Levins of Jonesboro departed this life to be with his Lord and Savior on July 27, 2024 at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House at the age of 88. He was born in Craighead County on February 4, 1936 to Ernest Sylvester Levins and Retha Edna Baugh Levins. Gerald grew up in Greene County (Finch Community). He accepted Christ as his Savior at the age of 12. Gerald served in many capacities in his church and community throughout his life. His present membership is at Family Fellowship Baptist Church.
Gerald served 2 years in the US Army, spending one year in South Korea.
Gerald became a Master Electrician and worked on many of the prominent buildings in Northeast Arkansas. Later he went to work for Penn Racquet Sports as an Electrical Project Engineer in Jonesboro as well as 8 years in Phoenix, Arizona. While there he had the opportunity to travel to Ireland as well as Germany and France. He retired in February 1998.
Gerald was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Flossie McMillon Dunnam and Clevie McMillon and two brothers, Darrel Levins and Billy Levins.
He is survived by his loving wife Ruth of 68 years, his loving children, David (Vickie) Levins of Lakeland, Tennessee and Donna (Steve) Tarry of Paragould, Arkansas, one sister, Ernestine (Douglas) Hochstetler of Cleveland, Georgia. Four grandchildren, Cody Sifford of Branson, Missouri, Ashley (Taylor) Pearcy of Lakeland, Tennessee, Casey (Kell) Jones of Sumter, South Carolina and Sarah (Shawn) Knight of Olive Branch, Mississippi. Seven great grandchildren, Emma, Cooper and Campbell Sifford of Branson, Missouri, Keaton and Millie Pearcy of Lakeland, Tennessee, Luke and Neal Jones of Sumter, South Carolina and three bonus Greats, Tucker, Royce, and Sawyer Tarry of Paragould. Gerald also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
The family deeply appreciates the outpouring of love from our church family, friends and neighbors. Many thanks to the staff of the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House for their kind, compassionate, and attentive care.
The visitation will be held from 9:30-10:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 3, 2024 at Emerson Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 3, 2024 at Emerson Funeral Home with Ferrel Duffel and Terry Songer officiating. Burial will follow at Finch Cemetery.
