Gerald Eugene Hood, 63, of Lake City, died Friday morning in Lake City of natural causes.
Born in Dixie, Gerald was a life-long resident of Lake City. He worked several years for A.D.T. and Frolic Footwear in Jonesboro and retired from General Electric.
Gerald was a 1961 graduate of Lake City High School, and a member of the First Baptist Church of Lake City but attended the Bowman Baptist Church. He was a member of the Lake City Masonic Lodge, and was preceded in death by his parents: Jim and Gladys Berg Hood, and by a sister, Elizabeth Ann Hood.
Survivors include:
His wife: Patty Hood of the home;
2 Daughters and sons-in-law: Celisa and Russell Wooten of Jonesboro, and Vanessa and Gene Rogers of Lake City;
4 Brothers: Randy Hood, and Terry Hood, both of Jonesboro, Tommy Hood of Nesbit, Mississippi, and Donald Hood of Lake City; and
4 Grandchildren: Margaret Wooten, Morgan Wooten, Hunter Rogers, and Landon Rogers.
Funeral services will be held Monday morning at 10:30 at Emerson Memorial Chapel in JONESBORO with Rev. Ryan Putman officiating. Burial will follow in Jonesboro Memorial Park.
Active pallbearers include Randy Jeffers, Billy Anderson, Jim Robertson, Johnny Maynard, Mack DeFries, Donnie Mize, Donnie Peaster and Sonny Barker.
Honorary pallbearers include his Sunday School Class at Bowman Baptist Church, members of the Lake City Masonic Lodge and his coffee shop friends.
Visitation will be held Sunday evening from 5-7 at Emerson Funeral Home in JONESBORO.
