Georgia Ester Delores Granger

Georgia Ester Delores Granger, 87, of Finch, passed away on July 5, 2025 at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro. Delores, lovingly known as Aunt DeeDee to her family and friends, was born on March 1, 1938 in Walcott to Jonas Forkum and Maude Bowman Forkum.

Delores loved gardening and tending to her flower beds. She always enjoyed canning and sharing the vegetables grown in her garden. Delores had a creative spirit and found joy in writing poetry and songs. She was of the Baptist faith and was a member of Mt. Zion Church. On August 15, 1952, Delores married the love of her life, Herbert, and together they built a life filled with love and laughter. Above all else, Delores loved her family and adored spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Delores was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Herbert Walker Granger; sisters, Tressie Freeman, Leslie Townsand, and Lily Forkum; and granddaughter, McKenna Bruner.

She is survived by her son, Herbert “Herb” Lee Granger, Sr. (Debbie) of Brookland; daughters, Debbie Bruner of Finch and Sandra Dee Smith (Jeff) of Finch; sister, Mary Ellen Evans of Jonesboro; grandchildren, Patty Collier (Joe) of Finch, Herbert Lee Granger, Jr. of Finch, Brent Granger of Jonesboro, Shawn Fletcher (Jennifer) of Jonesboro, Shelby Smith of Brookland, Logan Smith of Nashville, TN, Alyssa Hooker of Paragould, Sharon Stephens of Jonesboro, Karen Johnson of Jonesboro, and Matthew Bruner of Paragould; great-grandchildren, Tyler “Tye” Granger (Shannon) of Paragould and Debra Lynn of Paragould; nephew, Jerry Townsand and niece, Sherry Kemp. Sherry lived with her Aunt DeeDee. Aunt DeeDee loved all her nieces and nephews dearly.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 8, 2025 from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. at Emerson Memorial Chapel in Jonesboro. A funeral service will follow at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Danny Murphy officiating. Interment will follow at Old Bethel Cemetery in Paragould.
