Georgia Ann Chism

February 23, 1929 — August 3, 2022

Georgia Ann Chism, 93, of Jonesboro died Wednesday, August 3, 2022 at St. Bernards Medical Center. She was born in Kansas City, Missouri to Godfred and Minnie Kammermann. She met the love of her life, Jay P. Chism, in Long Beach, CA. They married and settled in Forrest City, Arkansas before moving to Jonesboro in 1979. Georgia was a member of Grace Missionary Baptist Church, Nettleton Lions Club, American Legion Auxiliary, The Gideons International Auxiliary, and an active member of the Republican Party. After raising her family she earned her degree in accounting from Arkansas State University. Georgia was a faithful Christian, who devoted many hours to the service of her church. She had an unwavering dedication to her family and was always willing to help anyone in need. She was a kind and loving caregiver who would often show her love through her world famous chicken and dumplings and sweet potato pie. No one ever left her house hungry. Some of her favorite things were crossword puzzles, coffee, shopping, camping and her pets. She was loved by her family and friends and will be greatly missed.

She is preceded in death by her parents Godfred and Minnie Kammermann, and her loving husband of 56 years, Jay P. Chism.

Survivors include one daughter, Janice Bradford (Charles) of Jonesboro, her four sons, Tommy Chism (Vivian) of Jonesboro, John Paul Chism (Tina) of Olive Branch, Mississippi, Phillip Chism of Siloam Springs, Arkansas, Jimmy Chism (Stacey) of Paragould, Arkansas, and sixteen grandchildren and twenty-two great grandchildren

Visitation will be Monday, August 8, 2022 at 9:00 A.M. at the Emerson Memorial Chapel.  Service will start at 10 A.M. with Bro. Dow Griffin officiating. Private burial will follow.

Honored to serve as her pallbearers are her four sons, Tommy Chism, John Paul Chism, Phillip Chism, and Jimmy Chism.
