George H. (Sonny) Miller, Jr. 86 of Cash passed from this life January 6, 2018 at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House. He was born July 7, 1931 in Cash, Arkansas to his proud parents, George Harvey Miller, Sr and Hazel Fern (Baker) Miller. Out of high school, George joined the Navy and proudly served on the USS Hansen during the Korean War. After the war he received his Master’s Degree in mathematics at ASU and started his teaching career at Cash then Nettleton and Westside. He took a few years off from teaching to help his brother in the construction business. After retiring from construction, he went back to teaching and retired at that profession also. George loved golf, hunting, sports and solving math problems. He especially loved his family get to gathers. George was a life long member of the Cash Church of Christ. He is preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife, Janet Victoria Miller of Cash; one son, Terence D. Miller of Cash; two daughters, Debora Miller Pratt (Terry) and Lorraine Miller, both of Jonesboro; two brothers, Marshall Miller (Cecile) of Chicago, Illinois and Charles Miller (Linda) of Jonesboro. Six grandchildren, Dana Peek, Bret Miller, Luke Miller, Maggi Miller, Jessica Criland and Harley Hood. Four great grandchildren, Emma Paul, Liam Johnson, Marlie Miller and Landon Miller and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be Monday, January 8, 2018 from 4-5pm at the Emerson Memorial Chapel with a service starting at 5 pm. Ezra Thetford will be officiating.
Honorary Pallbearers include: John Bishop, Jerry Waddell, Phil Bishop, cousins, nephews and nieces and golf partners.
Burial will be private.
