George O. De Roeck

November 14, 1931 — March 16, 2015

George O. De Roeck, 83, was granted his life's desire to be in the presence of God on Monday, March 16, 2015, at his daughter's home in Mountain Home. He is in fellowship with friends and family who have gone before him, including his parents George and Elisa De Roeck and his first wife, Gloria.

George is survived by his second wife, Carol and his three children, George M. De Roeck and wife Cara, Denise Malloy and husband Tim and Michele Gibson and husband Brian. He is also survived by his 12 grandchildren, Andrea Andrews, Jonathan De Roeck, James De Roeck, Patrick Moore (Jessie), Meredith Barr (Austin), Stephanie Hulett (Zack), Adrienne Moore, Madeline Malloy, Jenifer Malloy, Katelyn Malloy, Mallory Gibson, Mark Gibson (Margaret) and 3 great-grandchildren, Noah Andrews, Sophie Andrews, and Aspen Barr. In addition, Carol’s five children, their spouses, 13 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren who joined his life in 2000 survive him.George was deeply loved and respected by his family. He was an endless source of encouragement, always willing to share his wisdom with those he loved.

George served his country in the US Navy. He enjoyed several business ventures in Jonesboro before retiring and moving to Palm Harbor, FL.

George lived his life to the fullest and believed every day a gift from God to be used helping others. George was an active member of the Knights of Columbus and the St. Vincent dePaul Society. George brought communion to those unable to attend Mass and would become involved in their lives. George could not say "no" to anyone in need. He always thought of others before himself.

In 2013, George and his wife Carol moved to Mountain Home, AR to be cared for by his loving daughter, Denise. There, he became a member of St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church and their council of the Knights of Columbus.

George will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him. If only we all could strive to be like him, this world would be a better place. In lieu of flowers, a Memorial donation can be made to Blessed Sacrament School, 614 South Church Street, Jonesboro, AR 72401.

Arrangements are under the direction of Emerson Funeral Home in Jonesboro, AR. Visitation will be Wednesday, March 18, 2015, from 5:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m at Emerson Funeral Home in Jonesboro. Rosary will begin at 7:00pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Thursday, March 19, 2015, at 11:00am at Blessed Sacrament Church, Jonesboro, AR. Burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery, Jonesboro, AR. A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church in Mountain Home, AR at a later date.
