George Brancy Moody, 75, of Jonesboro, passed away on June 14, 2025, at his home. He was born in Mississippi on November 4, 1949, to the late Jack Moody and Ruth Mann. In addition to his parents, George is preceded in death by his wife, Lavonda Moody; his son, Brancy Byron Moody; his stepfather, Roy Mann; his sisters, Nancy Moody and Ginger Moody; and his beloved dog, Rebel.
George lived in Mississippi for many years before moving to Arkansas with his daughter-in-law, Rebecca, who cared for him as his health declined. He was always a man of the outdoors, finding happiness in hunting, fishing, or camping. George’s greatest passion was working on the riverboat, blending his love for nature with his job on the river. If he wasn’t outside, he would relax by watching westerns on television or spending time with his favorite pet, Rebel. George was a good man who was loved by many.
George is survived by his daughter-in-law, Rebecca Moody, of the home, and his daughter, Tami Williams; brothers Jackie and Steve Moody; sister Amelia Mitchell; grandchildren Marlee Jackson and Makayla Steadman; and family members Jenny Stone and Holland Sims, both of the home.
