George “Gary” Jones, 61 of Jonesboro passed away Saturday September 3, at his home in Jonesboro.
Gary was born June 18, 1950 in Swifton, AR and moved to Jonesboro in 1968. He proudly served the United States Army during the Vietnam War. While serving in the military he graduated from Saint Louis High School in Honolulu, Hawaii in 1974. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and loved Nascar. Gary also enjoyed camping and spending time with family and friends. He retired from Riceland Foods after 35 years. Gary was a Christian and was of the Baptist belief.
He was preceded in death by his father Charley Edward Jones.
Gary is survived by his wife of 42 years, Loce Henderson Jones of the home; his mother Thelma Jones of Jonesboro; one sister of Shirley Hartsell of Tuckerman; three sons Jack Edwards Jones and his wife Jennifer, Scotty Lynn Jones and Gary Don Jones all of Jonesboro; five grandchildren, Zach Scott Jones, Beau Edward Jones, Kelsey Marie Jones, Landon Wayne Jones and Jett Bridger Jones all of Jonesboro.
Honored to serve as pallbearers are Steve Henderson, Dale Hibbs, Tim Lambert, Ronnie Hartsell, Ricky Hartsell, and David Hartsell.
Funeral service will be at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday September 7, 2011 at Emerson Memorial Chapel, with Pastor David Moore officiating.
Burial will be at Arnold Cemetery in Swifton, with Emerson Funeral Home in charge.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7:00 P.M. Tuesday September 6, at Emerson Funeral Home in Jonesboro.
