George F. Williams, 78, of Jonesboro, died Wednesday morning, January 9, 2008, at home in Jonesboro.
Born in Blytheville, George lived in Hillsboro, Missouri, near St. Louis for several years before moving to Jonesboro in 1977. He owned Warehouse Foods in Jonesboro for many years and was a member of First Baptist Church and the Masonic Lodge.
George was a member of the Jonesboro American Legion Senior Softball Team and enjoyed his daily Highland Drive McDonald’s morning coffee group. He was preceded in death by his wife, Patsy Gail Williams; and by 2 brothers: James and Jerry Williams.
Survivors include: 1 Son and his wife: Brian and Cheryl Williams of Jonesboro;
1 Daughter and her husband: Janice and Rusty Chambers of Jonesboro;
1 Brother: Charles Williams of St. Louis;
3 Sisters: Lavada Leicht of Phoenix, Dorothy Minton of Shiloh, Illinois, and Georgia Ruth Sirtak of Prairie Derocher, Illinois;
6 Grandchildren: George Williams, Tige Williams, Tyler McGlaughlin, Joseph Campbell, and Mackenzie Chambers, all of Jonesboro, and Ashley Campbell of Fayetteville; and
1 Great Grandson: Bennett Williams of Jonesboro.
Funeral services will be held Friday morning at 10:30 in Emerson Memorial Chapel with Dr. Bruce Tippit officiating. Burial will follow in Jonesboro Memorial Park.
Active pallbearers include: George Williams, Tige Williams, Tyler McGlaughlin, Joseph Campbell, Alan Tweddell and Bud Hall.
Honorary pallbearers include: The Co-ed 10 Sunday School Class at First Baptist Church, his McDonald’s Coffee Group, and members of the American Legion Senior Softball Team.
Visitation will be held Thursday evening, 5-7, at Emerson Funeral Home.
