George Albert Berger Iii

October 14, 1970 — April 24, 2022

George A. Berger III, went to be with his Lord and Savior on April 24, 2022. He passed peacefully at home with the family he loved.  His wife and children were there for him for months and in his final days.

He fought as hard as anyone can with cancer, he even worked with MD Anderson on experimental treatments to help others suffering with his rare form of cancer.

George had a big personality.  During his lifetime he was generally known as the sharpest guy in the room, the fiercest competitor in Trivial Pursuit, and the person who could help you figure out the hard questions in life.  He loved America, traveling, and finding the best restaurant in town.  Words cannot convey how highly regarded he was by his family and friends.

He graduated from Hendrix College with an accounting degree.  He met the love of his life at college and asked her out to a Jimmy Buffet concert.  Together they have three beautiful, smart, and kind daughters.

George was passionate about agriculture and advancing science.  In 2020, he and his family were selected as the Poinsett County Farm Family of the Year. The people who knew him best know he was an avid outdoorsman, barbeque enthusiast, and prolific researcher.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Dr. George Berger, and Elise J. Berger.  He is survived by his wife, Kelly Corbett Berger, his children, Alison Berger, Abby Berger, and Ava Bliss Berger; his siblings, Chrissie Lamkin, Eric Berger, Dr. Joyce Berger Doyle, Greg Berger, and four nieces and two nephews.

Friends and family will gather for a graveside service, arranged by Emerson Funeral Home, to be held at the 3:00 p.m., Oak Grove Cemetery in Weiner, Arkansas on Tuesday, April 26, 2022.

Memorials can be sent to the George A. Berger Memorial Scholarship, c/o Arkansas State University, P.O. Box 1620, State University, AR 72467.  Memorials will fund scholarships to continue the Berger Family legacy of agricultural academic achievement.
