Geneva Goodson Wallace, 91, of Lake City, passed into her eternal reward on Wednesday, July 18, 2018. She was born October 28, 1926, in Jonesboro and lived in Black Oak, the Lunsford community and Lake City.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Allen H. (Junior) Wallace, her parents (John and Laura Goodson) and two children who died at birth (Phyllis and Larry).
She is survived by two children: Sherry Wallace McAnally (husband Larry) of Lake City and John D. Wallace (wife Charlene) of Colleyville, TX. Five grandchildren: Angela McAnally, Kim Bratten, Paul McAnally (wife Dixie), Laura Bull (husband Gary) and Emily Wallace. Eight great-grandchildren: Hunter Bratten, Kade Brannon, Kennedy Brannon, Harrison McAnally, Henleigh McAnally, Nathan Bull, Grant Bull and Joshua Bull.
She is survived by one sister: Bernice Goodson Thompson, and was preceded in death by seven brothers (James Goodson, Ray Goodson, Ralph Goodson, Carl Goodson, Ted Goodson, Norman Goodson and Leon Goodson) and three sisters (Myrtle Goodson Harris, Edna Goodson and an infant sister who died at birth).
She was a member of the Lake City Church of Christ and the First Baptist Church Lake City. Geneva and Junior worked together in their family farm, farm implement and rental property businesses. She also worked at the Dean B. Ellis Library at ASU.
Her life is perfectly described in Proverbs 31:26-30: “She speaks with wisdom and faithful instruction is on her tongue. She watches over the affairs of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness. Her children arise and call her blessed … Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all. Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting. But a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.”
Pallbearers will be John D. Wallace, Nathan Bull, Paul McAnally, Harrison McAnally, Hunter Bratten, Kade Brannon, Keith Harris and Greg Wallace.
Honorary pallbearers will be Gary Bull, Grant Bull, Joshua Bull, Charles Harris, Jim Smith, Donald Timms, Randy Blancett, Dr. John Sanford, Jim Ladd, Jim Grisham and her nephews from the Goodson and Wallace families.
Visitation and funeral services will be at Emerson Funeral Home in Jonesboro. Visitation: Friday, July 20, from 5-7 p.m. Celebration of life service: Saturday, July 21, at 10 a.m. Officiating will be Ron Langston, Rick Davis and John D. Wallace. Burial will follow at Jonesboro Memorial Park.
The family thanks Sherrie Ellis, Stacey Hart, Shelly Nichols, Altie (Sally) Miles and Phyllis Moffitt for their excellent caregiving support for Mom over recent years. The family also is grateful for the exceptional and compassionate care provided to Mom by Home Health Professionals and by the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House staff.
