Geneva "Susie" Barnhill

Geneva Lorene "Susie" Barnhill, 84, of Jonesboro, passed away Sunday, September 18, 2016, at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House.

Susie was born in Lunsford and lived several years in Bay before moving to Jonesboro where she lived much of her life. Susie worked as a Certified Nurse's Aide for a few years in addition to being a full-time homemaker and pastor's wife which she thoroughly enjoyed.

Susie is a charter member of Sanctuary Baptist Church of Bono. She is a past member of Providence Baptist Church, Faith Baptist Church of Tulot, and South Caraway Baptist Church where she was a Sunday school teacher and active worker in Vacation Bible School. Susie enjoyed reading and studying the Bible, gardening and cooking and caring for her family. She especially enjoyed traveling and shopping.

Susie was preceded in death by her parents: Carl and Mary Passmore Taylor, her husband, A.H. "Sonny" Barnhill, Jr., 2 sons: Lanny Barnhill and Terry Barnhill, and 2 double cousins: Jane Wilson and Clayton Taylor.

Survivors include 1 daughter and son-in-law: Sandy and Billy West of the home;
2 daughters-in-law: Linda Barnhill and Jeanette Moore, both of Jonesboro;
1 double cousin and her husband: Malinda and Ed Koonce of Mustang, Oklahoma;
6 grandchildren and their spouses: Carla Lane (Chris), Jason Barnhill, Leah Despain (Clay), Rachel Alcorn (John), Terry West (Misty), and Adam West; and
10 great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held 5:00 p.m.- 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at Emerson Funeral Home.

A funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Emerson Memorial Chapel with Rev. Terry George, Rev. Don Martin and Rev. Bobby Barnett officiating. Burial will follow in Oaklawn Cemetery.

Active pallbearers include John Alcorn, Dean Mote, David Mote, Jr., Jackie Wallis, Kirby Roe and Ken Brown.
