Gene May

February 4, 1925 — December 18, 2014

Mr. Richard Argene "Gene" May, son of the late
W. F. "Bid" and Essie Newsom May of Walcott was born
February 4, 1925 and departed this life December 18, 2014
surrounded by his family and close friends.

Gene married Carma Dean Carney of Dexter, Missouri, March
26, 1946 and the couple enjoyed 68 years together.

During his working years, Gene worked in insurance and retail
with his last employment being with Sears. Gene enjoyed being
with his friends at the coffee shop as well as a good card game.
He and Carma enjoyed traveling, camping, and spending many
winters in Florida and Texas where they made many lasting
friendships.

Mr. May was a long time member of the First Baptist Church
where he was a member of the Adult Co-Ed Sunday School
Class, and he was actively involved in the Care Center Ministry.
Mr. May proudly served his country in the United States Army
during World War II.

In addition his parents, Mr. May preceded in death by an infant
son, Robbie Gene.

Gene is survived by his wife, Carma Dean Carney May of the
home; a daughter Tamara Adams and husband Alton Jr. of
Melbourne, Florida; sister Patsy Evans and husband Charles of
Jacksonville, Arkansas; brothers Dean and wife Faye of Walcott;

Jackie and wife Mary of Paragould. Grandchildren Tory Pittman
and husband Mark of Pearl River, Louisiana; Alton Adams III and
wife Kristin of River Ridge, Louisiana; and five great-grand
children: Hanna-Grace, Coltin, Dale, and Emma Kate Pittman,
and Brady Adams, along with a host of other relatives and
friends.

Funeral services are at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, December 22,
2014, at Emerson Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Kathy Holler
and Rev. John Carney officiating. The eulogy will be delivered
by Dean Williams. Burial will follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery near
Walcott, Arkansas.

The family will receive friends from 9:30 to 11:00, prior to the
servrce.

Those serving as pallbearers are Jay Cuny, Chad Evans, Jack
Gammon, Robin May, Shannon May, and Terry Smith.

Honorary pallbearers are members of the Adult Co-Ed Sunday
School Class of First Baptist Church, Sears retirees, Saturday
Night Dinner Group, Dean Williams, and Sherry Blevins.

In lieu of flowers lasting memorials may be made to the Care
Center Ministry of the First Baptist Church, 701 South Main
Street, Jonesboro, AR 72401.
