Gene Kiser

September 16, 1926 — March 16, 2014

Gene Kiser, 87, of Jonesboro, died Sunday, March 16, 2014, at his home of natural causes.

Born in Dexter, Missouri, Gene lived in Kennett, Missouri, before moving to Jonesboro in 1949.  He operated Gene Kiser Garage near Hilltop from 1957-1970 and then began farming and raising livestock.

Gene was a charter member of Prospect Missionary Baptist Church where he served as song leader for several years. He was a Master Mason in Jonesboro Masonic Lodge and was preceded in death by his wife Ruth Taylor Kiser, son Rodger Kiser, parents Walter and Easter Hill Kiser, brother Homer Lee Kiser and 2 sisters Vernita Lusk and Rosalee Stamps.

Survivors include 2 sons, Gary (Pat) Kiser of Hot Springs and Mike (Betty) Kiser of Hendersonville, Tennessee;

1 daughter, Shelia (Bill) Butler of Horseshoe Bend;

1 sister, Dorothy Tetley of Iberia, Missouri;

13 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. at Emerson Memorial Chapel with Rev. Mike Book officiating. Private burial will follow in Trinity Cemetery.

Honorary pallbearers will be John Rutledge and members of Gene's Sunday school class.

Visitation will be Wednesday afternoon from 12:30-2:00 p.m. at Emerson Memorial Chapel.

For lasting memorials, the family asks that consideration be given to Prospect Baptist Church Building Fund.
