Gaylon “Jake” Rawls, 78, of Harrisburg, died Tuesday, October 28, 2008 at the Woodbriar Nursing Center. Jake lived most of his life in the Bay and Trumann area, moving to Harrisburg three years ago. He was a farmer, a veteran of the US Army serving during the Korean War, and of the Baptist belief.
Mr. Rawls was an avid Mark Martin NASCAR fan, and an Atlanta Braves Baseball fan but loved most his family, farming and his friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Rawls; his parents, Willie and Gladys Rawls and one great grandson, Jarred Wade Jake Travis.
Survivors include two daughters, Deborah Rawls Benson, Bay; and Vicky McMullin and husband Terry Don of Harrisburg; one brother, Junior Rawls, and his wife, Imogene of Bay; two grandchildren Ashley Travis and Sidney McMullin.
Graveside services will be 2:30 PM Thursday, October 30, 2008 at Pine Log Cemetery with Terry Tacker officiating and Emerson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Pallbearers are Robert Worthington, Eddie Clem, Herman Robertson, Larry McMullin, Charles Mitchell, and Doug Richie. Visitation will be from 12:30 – 1:30 Thursday afternoon at Emerson Funeral Home.
