Gary Sartin

Gary Sartin, 66, of Jonesboro died Monday, July 6, 2026, at his home. A lifetime resident, he was born in Jonesboro on January 7, 1960, to Anuel and Thelma Jean Sartin. He worked for the City of Jonesboro for over 34 years. He was a member of Community Fellowship Church. Gary had rededicated his life to Christ and his church family was able to baptize him at his home.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters Louise Findley and Yvonne DeLaCruz and a brother Rickey Sartin.

Survivors include his son, Donald Wayne Sartin; his daughter, April Sartin (Ricky Painter); and his grandson, Jordan Sartin-Painter, all of Jonesboro. Brothers, Raymond (Rusty) Sartin and wife Joy; Sonny Sartin and wife Sharon all of Jonesboro. Sisters, Linda Johnson, Thelma Meeks, Donna Pinnick and husband Don, all of Jonesboro. Barbara Lemmons of Paragould; Judy Brown and husband Butch of Brookland; Diane Ball and husband Al of Brookland. Brother-from-another-mother, Larry Boatman, Jr. of Jonesboro. Previous wife Shelia Cox and stepson Kevin Cox of Jonesboro.

Gary, also known as Mad Dog in the wrestling world, found joy in the simple things that made life meaningful. Whether he was talking wrestling, casting a line while fishing or cheering on his favorite NASCAR driver, "Rowdy" Kyle Busch, those moments brought him happiness and gave him stories to share with the people he loved. The thing he enjoyed watching the most, and sharing with everyone, was watching his grandson, Jordan, race his modified stock car.

What we will remember most is the person that he was. Gary always had a smile and regardless of how badly he felt, you never heard him complain and he was always worried about someone else. He leaves behind memories that will continue to bring comfort, laughter and love to everyone who knew him. Though our hearts are heavy, we take comfort in knowing that the love he shared and the memories he created will never fade.
