Gary Lynn Owens

Gary Lynn Owens, 67, of Harrisburg, died Friday, June 30, 2017 at St. Bernards Regional Medical Center. He had lived in Harrisburg for four years, moving there from Jonesboro. Gary was a member of the 101st Airborne Division in the US Army, serving during the Vietnam War. He enjoyed fishing and making people laugh. Because of his love for laughter, he said he was “Short, fat and happy”. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Jonathan; and one brother, Ronnie.

Survivors include his wife and the love of his life of 23 years, Georgia L. Schales Owens of the home; son, Hadley Owens of Jonesboro; brother, Mike Owens of Jonesboro; sister, Kay Burdeshaw of Bloomington, Indiana; and one grandson, Jonathan James Owens and several nieces and nephews.

All services will be private and under the direction of Emerson Funeral Home.
