Gary Don Mobley, 76, of Brookland, passed from this life on November 30, 2025, at his home. He was born in Jonesboro on February 19, 1949, to the late Charles and Roberta Mobley.
Gary was a proud veteran of the United States Army. In his younger days he enjoyed snow skiing, and during his years in Florida he found great joy in sailing. He was a faithful member of Brookland Baptist Church, where he served actively in many roles—working in the food pantry, caring for the church grounds, and helping many of the elderly ladies of the congregation.
Gary had a love for photography and rarely missed reading the newspaper from front to back each day. He also adored his dogs, Willie and Mister, who were truly like his children.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Bonnie Coleman, and her husband, Don.
Left to cherish his memory are his sister, Connie Nesmith of Brookland; his nieces, Crystal Hughes (Michael) and Sara Foster (Brett); and his great-nieces and great-nephews, Savannah, Max, Maddie, Meagan, and Grayson.
Visitation will be held from 12:30–2:00 p.m. on Friday at Brookland Baptist Church. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. Burial will take place at Pine Log Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Brett Foster, Michael Hughes, Austin McFarland, Grayson Foster, Max Hughes, and Scott Childers. Honorary pallbearers include Leon Glenn, Greg Nall, Hank Bracken, Jim Clayton, David Loggins, Roger Coy, Jeff Chaplain, Dewayne Farr, Sonny Crain, and Jim Walker.
