Gary Lee Furnish, 79, of Jonesboro, passed away peacefully in his sleep on September 14, 2024. Born on April 3, 1945, in Lake City, he was the son of Eileen Crystal Powell.
A proud U.S. Army veteran, Gary served his country with honor. After his military service, he worked at Dana Incorporated as a dedicated factory worker for many years. Gary was a devout member of Cornerstone Baptist Church, where his faith was the foundation of his life. He loved spending his free time fishing and cherishing moments with his family, who meant the world to him.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Phyllis Ann Furnish; his daughter, Shirlene Annette Furnish; and his mother, Eileen Crystal Powell.
Gary is survived by his son, Gary Alan Furnish (Tena) of Jonesboro; his daughter, Melissa Renee Ussery (Don) of Blytheville; his brothers, Michael Powell of Brookland and Gaylon Powell of DeKalb, Illinois; his sister, Judy Riggle of Kentucky; his cherished grandson, Gary Logan Furnish and a lifetime of friends.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 17, 2024, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will follow on Wednesday, September 18, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. with Bro. James Decanter officiating the service. Interment will follow the funeral service at Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery.
