Gary Dean Cox

Gary Dean Cox, 73, of Brookland, passed from this life on Monday, January 3, 2022, at his home.

Gary was born in Jonesboro and grew up here. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War and lived in Memphis several years before returning to the Jonesboro area in the late 1980s. Gary worked in residential and commercial construction most of his life and was a Believer in Jesus Christ.

Gary enjoyed deer hunting and fishing, but he enjoyed spending time with his family and  grandchildren above everything else. He had a passion for teaching children and his family about Jesus. Gary was preceded in death by his parents: Otto Cox and Evelyn Alsup; and by two brothers: Larry Ray Cox and Charles Henry Cox.

Survivors include 2 daughters and sons-in-law: Laura and Joe Mills of Rogers, and Whitney and Chad Lumpkin of Brookland;

1 son and daughter-in-law, Grant and Whitney Cox of Little Rock;

1 brother and sister-in-law, Kenny and Susan Cox of Jonesboro;

3 sisters: Pat Cox of Vernon, Texas, Brenda Kay Williamson of Knoxville, Tennessee, and Dianne Cox Barnes of Hot Springs;

3 grandchildren: Tyler Cox (Lindsey), Joshua Lumpkin and Cana Cox; and

1 great grandson, Asher Cox.

A memorial service will be at 6:00 p.m. Thursday evening at Community Fellowship Church, 1600 Red Wolf Blvd, Jonesboro, with Pastor Chad Wood officiating.  Burial will be private.

For lasting memorials, the family asks that consideration be given to "Options on Main," Jonesboro, Arkansas.
