Gary Chisholm, 60, of Powhatan passed from this life on Friday, November 29, 2019 at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House. He was born to the late James and Jean Chisholm on May 18, 1959 in National City California. Gary was a veteran of the US Army and served as a Tanker Driver while enlisted. He was an auto mechanic for most of his working career. Gary was proud of his BBQing ability and his Native American Cherokee Blood. He also enjoyed woodworking specializing in yard art. In addition to his parents, Gary is preceded in death by his brothers, John Chisholm and James Chisholm; and sister, Linda Mijares.
Gary is survived by his wife of 37 years, Julie Chisholm of Powhatan; son, Garry Chisholm of Tacoma, Washington; daughters, Heather Murray (Josh) of Davenport, Iowa and Cassandra Chisholm of Davenport, Iowa; sisters, Debi Barber of San Antonio, Texas and Billie Woolison (Danny) of Davenport, Iowa. Gary also leaves behind five grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, friends, and his two beloved Husky’s, Cheyenne and Laska.
A celebration of life open house will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, December 5, 2019 at the Powhatan Community Center.
A Military Graveside Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, December 9, 2019 at Rock Island National Cemetery, Rock Island Arsenal, Rock Island, IL 61299.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House.
