Gary C. Bowers, 71, of Jonesboro, passed away Saturday, March 4, 2017, at St. Bernards Medical Center.
Born in Lake City, Gary lived in Bay and Lake City before moving to Jonesboro ten years ago. He was a 1964 graduate of Lake City High School and was a member of the First United Pentecostal Church in Trumann. Gary worked 20 years for General Electric in Jonesboro and spent the rest of his working career operating Bowers Construction.
Gary served in the Arkansas National Guard and loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren as well as his dog, Cinnamon. He was preceded in death by his parents: Edward, Sr. and Gladys Bowers; by a brother, Edward Bowers, Jr., and a sister, Nadine Spurlock.
Survivors include his wife, Carletta Bowers of the home;
1 son, Jared Bowers of Jonesboro;
3 daughters and sons-in-law: Lisa and Gary Weaver of Lake City, and Monica and James Shelton and Erica and Todd McClung, all of Jonesboro;
1 brother, David Bowers of Trumann;
3 sisters and brothers-in-law: Alice and Carl Wells of Ravenden Springs, Diane and Joe Wooten of Port Lavaca, Texas, and Rita and Jerry Hutcheson of Lake City; and
6 grandchildren: Garrett (Katelyn) Weaver, Lauren Weaver, Grant Shelton, Madison McClung, Lauren Shelton and Carleigh McClung.
Visitation will be 5:30 p.m.-8:00 p.m. Tuesday at Emerson Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at Emerson Memorial Chapel with Rev. Murry Ray, Rev. Joe Wooten and Rev. Marty Spurlock officiating.
Active pallbearers include nephews Marty Spurlock, Randy Bowers, Jason Hutcheson, Bryan Bowers, Mark Wells, Nathan Hutcheson and Blake Bowers.
