Garry “Butch” Meadows, 69, of Brookland passed from this life on Saturday, March 30, 2019. He was born to the late George and Bertha Meadows on July 8, 1949. Butch was raised in Caraway and graduated from Caraway Central High School. He was the owner of Meadows Contractors, served on the ASU Foundation Board, and was a Justice of the Peace for Craighead County. The Garry Meadows Arena at the Arkansas State University Equine Center was named after Garry who donated his labor preparing the land for construction. Butch loved horses, roping, and attending rodeos. In addition to his parents, Butch is preceded in death by his siblings, Wilma Jones, J.W. Meadows, and Larry Meadows.
Butch is survived by his wife of 51 years, Carolyn Meadows of Brookland; sons, Rick Meadows (Missy) of Jonesboro and Bryan Meadows (Virginia Hunter) of Jonesboro; siblings, Emma Lindley (Horace) of Oklahoma, Marline Sullivan (Dewayne) of Illinois, Cary Meadows (Earlene) of Oklahoma, and Brenda Pickett (Wayne) of Ravenden; grandchildren, Ashley, Bradley, Kaylop, and Trinity. Butch also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
The visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 2, 2019 at Emerson Funeral Home.
The funeral will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 3, 2019 at Emerson Funeral Home with Jimmy Adcox officiating. Burial will follow at Caraway Cemetery with the active pallbearers being Bobby Hodge, Bruce Dickens, James Lasley, Rodney Vaughn, Taylor Morgan, and Merrett Emery. The honorary pallbearers will be Wayne Anderson, Haley Pigue, Dale Wood and Terry Carty.
