Garland Ray Gibson, 84 years of age, of Jonesboro, Arkansas, died December 31, 2025, at St. Bernard’s Medical Center.
He was born in Glancy, Mississippi, to the late Doris (Crapps) and Julian Barlow Gibson, Jr. Garland graduated from Cleveland High School in 1959 and Delta State University with a B.S. in Business Administration. He served in the Mississippi National Guard.
He married Bettye Jean Rozier on September 6, 1963, in Cleveland, Mississippi. They moved to Jonesboro, Arkansas, in 1968. Garland working in banking as a personal and commercial lender for over 30 years at various institutions in Jonesboro. He was an avid hunter and loved flying.
He is survived by his wife, Bettye Rozier Gibson, a sister, Julianne (Robert) Gibson McKinney of Lewiston, Idaho, and a brother, Jimmy (Marie) Dale Gibson of Pine Bluff, Arkansas. He is also survived by two daughters, Dr. Amy (Kyle) Baldwin of Little Rock, Arkansas, and Dr. Jennifer (Rick) Schnellmann of Tucson, Arizona, and three grandchildren: Emily Baldwin and William Baldwin of Little Rock, Arkansas, and Mary Rose Schnellmann of St. Louis, Missouri.
Garland will be laid to rest through cremation. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, January 10, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. at Emerson Funeral Home in Jonesboro. The visitation will be held from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service.
