Galen E. Burleson, 64, of Jonesboro, passed away Saturday, February 21, 2015, at St. Bernards Medical Center.
Born in Parma, Missouri, Galen moved to Arkansas in 1962 and was a 1968 graduate of Brookland High School. He worked several years as a Quality Control Technician for Carl Bajour Company in Jonesboro.
Galen was a member of the Church of Christ and enjoyed hunting, fishing and riding the ATV with his grandchildren. He was a tinkerer who could fix anything and everything. Galen was also an animal lover, especially Beagle dogs which he trained to run rabbits. He was preceded in death by a son Dale Burleson, father Carl Burleson, and brothers Duane Burleson and Mike Burleson.
Survivors include his wife of 37 years, Paula Cowell Burleson of the home;
mother, Berniece Burleson of Jonesboro;
2 daughters: Tina Woodward (Jimmy) and Ashley (Brandon Bass) all of Brookland;
son, Kenny Kelley (Chastity) of Jonesboro;
sister, Karen Fletcher of North Little Rock;
13 grandchildren and a 14th grandchild expected in August.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, February 24, 2015, at 2:00 p.m. in Emerson Memorial Chapel with Jimmy Young officiating. Burial will follow in Jonesboro Memorial Park.
Active pallbearers include T.J. Fletcher, Jimmy Woodward, Brandon Bass, David Burleson, Steve Mayville and Shane Overman. Honorary pallbearers include Dr. David Pyle, Jack McCann, Ron Ring, and John Turner.
Visitation will be held Tuesday from 12 noon until service time in Emerson Chapel.
