Freeda Janice Huggins

December 11, 1931 — August 21, 2009

Freeda Janice Huggins, 77, of Jonesboro, died Friday at Skill Care Nursing Center. Born in Grubbs to Virgil Henry & Ethel Nance Hale, she had lived most of her life in the Jonesboro area. A retired LPN, she enjoyed yard work, reading, and especially shopping. She was a past president of the AARP and a member of the Greensboro Road Church of Christ.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, William & Linda Hale; daughter, Jimmye Newberry, all of Jonesboro; brother, Delano Hale, Flint, Michigan; and sisters, Maxine James, Joann McDaniel, Wanda Lou Thompson, all of Jonesboro; and 7 grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Calvin Huggins; her son, Bret Arnold Huggins; a brother, Virgil Hale, Jr.; and three sisters, Dorcas Carr, Gladys Hale, and Maude Frances Hale.

Graveside services will be held on Monday at 11:30 a.m. at Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery with Terry Joe Kee officiating. Emerson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Active pallbearers will include Paul Brown, Larry Alexander, David Trammel, Farrel Benton, and Randy Clark.

Visitation will be Monday from 9:30 – 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.
