Fredrick "Fred" Mark Lipscomb

Frederick “Fred” Mark Lipscomb, 68, passed away on Friday, February 16, 2024, in
Jonesboro Arkansas. He was born in Little Rock Arkansas on November 11, 1955 to James Wood
“Pete” Lipscomb of England, Arkansas and Emma Sedley Izard Lipscomb, of England and
Jonesboro Arkansas. Fred was predeceased by his parents and his older brother James “Jimmy”
Izard Lipscomb of Texarkana, Texas. He is survived by a niece Morgan Merigrace “Gracie”
Lipscomb of Texarkana, Texas, and an aunt Imogene “Ditty” Mitts of Jonesboro Arkansas and
many first cousins.
Fred spent his childhood in the town of England Arkansas where he began a lifelong interest in
music, was a devoted member of the Methodist Church, and a hunter and outdoorsman. Fred
became a very talented musician, primarily playing the clarinet but also many other
instruments. He had an appreciation of all musical styles but was especially fond of the classical
and jazz styles. He began his college studies at the University of Arkansas on a music scholarship
where he was a member of the Marching Band and then graduated from Arkansas State
University with a Bachelor of Arts in Music. During his life Fred participated in community bands
and orchestras, and taught music at high schools in Arkansas and Missouri, including the High
School he attended at England.
Fred spent his later years in assisted living homes in Trumann and Jonesboro, where he made
many friends, was well liked by all, and will be greatly missed.
A private burial and services will be held at a later date and Fred will be interred with his family
at the Mulberry Cemetery at England, Arkansas. Donations in his memory may be directed to
the First United Methodist Church of Jonesboro. 801 S Main St, Jonesboro, AR 72401
