Freddy Gene Ford, 82, of Jonesboro, passed from this life on Monday, April 3, 2023, at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House. Freddy was born October 21, 1940, to W.N. “Bill” and Pearlie Foster Ford near Grubbs.
Freddy graduated from Grubbs High School in 1958. He was a farmer and owned a trucking company. He was a member of the Victory General Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon. Freddy had previously served as a board member of the Weiner Public Schools. He was a member of the Crowley’s Ridge Cruisers car club and enjoyed working on classic cars. His greatest joy was spending time with his family, especially grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Freddy is survived by his wife of 60 years, Linda Mitchell Ford of the home; one son, Mitch and Robyn Ford, of Bono; one daughter, Kelly Ford, of Bono; four grandsons, Jason and Diana Ford of Bono, Nolan and Camary Dill of Weiner, Jesse and Cassie Ford of Jonesboro, and Zachary and Meredith Lancaster of Monticello, IL; and seven great-grandchildren, Thomas Ford, Sawyer Dill, Charlotte Dill, Benjamin Ford, William Ford, Eleanor Ford, and Brady Ford; and several nieces and nephews.
Freddy was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Bobby, Billy, and Jerry Ford, and a sister-in-law, Beverly Ford.
A visitation will be held Thursday, April 6, 2023 from 12:30-2:30 at the Emerson Funeral Home chapel. Funeral services will follow with Mitch Ford and Dale Blackwell officiating. Interment will follow at Clark Cemetery, near Grubbs. Active pallbearers are Jason Ford, Nolan Dill, Jesse Ford, Zachary Lancaster, Donnie Workman, and Rick Tribble. Honorary pallbearers include Sherman House, Jerry Hutchinson, Ron Johnson, Donald Lewellyn, Wayne Mitchell, Shane Hutchinson, Heath Hutchinson, Michael Lewellyn, Randy Lewellyn, and Jimmy Mitchell.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks lasting memorials be left to Clark Cemetery, (14736 Cyndi Lane, Weiner, AR 72479) or a charity of your choice.
