Fred Aaron Burrow, Sr., 72, of Jonesboro, died Thursday, August 30, 2012, at St. Bernards Medical Center.
Born in Nettleton, Fred lived much of his life in the Jonesboro area. He was a 1959 graduate of Brookland High School and a U.S. Army veteran serving active duty from 1963-1966. Fred was a retired maintenance supervisor for Craighead Electric Cooperative Corporation where he worked from 1971-1996.
Fred was a long-time member of Family Fellowship Baptist Church where he served as a deacon (past chairman) and current Building Committee chairman. He enjoyed fishing and raising a garden and spending time with family especially his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Rena Evelyn Maiden Burrow.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Dorothy Burrow, married June 17, 1961;
2 sons, Aaron Burrow (Tina) and Randy Burrow (Melissa), all of Jonesboro,
2 brothers, Charles Burrow and Jerry Burrow (Linda), all of Jonesboro;
7 grandchildren: Matt Green, Niki Bennett, Kaleb Burrow, Jodie Burrow, Megan Burrow, Cade Burrow and Brittany Clark; and
2 great grandchildren: Sean Qualls and Aubrey Clark.
Funeral services will be held Monday morning at 10:00 in Emerson Memorial Chapel with Todd Burrow and Michael Blackwood officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in Pleasant Grove Cemetery.
Active pallbearers include Butch Ellison, Tim Rigsbee, Tom Rigsbee, Roscoe Wood, Phillip Gay, and grandsons Matt Green, Kaleb Burrow and Cade Burrow.
Honorary pallbearers include: Troy Smith, the men of Family Fellowship Baptist Church and current and former fellow employees of Craighead Electric Cooperative.
Visitation will be held Sunday evening, 5-8, at Emerson Funeral Home Chapel.
