Francis Milton (Mel) Davis, age 74, of Jonesboro died Monday, April 28, 2014, at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro. Born September 1, 1939 in Humble Texas, he was the son of the late W.I Davis and Zula Jo Davis Beaumont. Mel had been a resident of Jonesboro for 46 years.
He is survived by his loving wife of 31 years Patti Sheffield Davis, son Rob Sheffield of Jonesboro; grandchild, Ariel (Sheffield) and Jon Kaplan of Murrieta, CA, and three great grandchildren, Kaedence, Breanna and Skylar; sisters Nancy Stephens, Ann Lamb, Lea Beaumont, Judy Howard and brother Keith Beaumont
Other family members he is survived by are mother-in-law Glena Brown, Jonesboro; Ed and Sherry Sheffield, Lela Sheffield and Rick and Helga Sheffield, all of Fisk, MO; Tom and Irma Sheffield, Lois and Bill (Sheffield) Cule, Ft Walton Beach, FL; Thelma (Sheffield) and Jim Steele, Jonesboro and scores of loving nieces and nephews.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, a life member of the NRA, serving as treasurer of the local chapter for many years, and a lifetime member of the North America Hunting Club and Bass Anglers Sports Association.
Mr. Davis and his wife owned and operated Tymes Past Antiques, The Brandin' Iron Grill and Sheffield's Restaurant in downtown Jonesboro for many years.
The family would like to express their gratitude and appreciation to Dr. Ben Owens, Jr., and the staff and volunteers of the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House, Dr. David Pyle, and the Staff of Clopton Clinic Oncology.
Visitation will be 5 – 7:00 pm Wednesday, April 30, 2014 at Emerson Funeral Home. Interment will be private. For lasting memorials please consider, Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House, 1148 East Mathews Avenue, Jonesboro, Arkansas 72401.
