Forrest “Frosty” Smith, 77, of Lake City died Sunday, June 24, 2012 at his home. He had lived in Lake City since 1978, moving there from Fisher, Arkansas. Frosty was of the Methodist belief. He retired as a rural letter carrier after 40 years of service where he had a very strict work ethic and received the 1,000,000 Safe Driving Award. Mr. Smith was a family man and loved his grandchildren. He served in the US Air Force during the Korean War and was a member of the Army National Guard 875th Unit. Frosty was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and one sister.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Zannie Smith of the home; sons, Samuel Smith; Brent Smith and his wife Brandy all of Lake City; sisters, Betty Brown of Fisher and Daisy Austin of Charlotte North Carolina; grandchildren, Rikki Jo Smith, Brandon Smith and Piper Smith.
Funeral services will be 11:00 Wednesday, June 27, 2012 at the Fisher Methodist Church in Fisher, Arkansas with Brother Paul Lawrence officiating and Emerson Funeral Home of Jonesboro in charge of arrangements. Burial will be in Fisher Cemetery with Jeff Caffrey, Robert Smith, Chris Smith, Charles Smith, Wesley Brown, Clarence Smith Jr., and Clinton Smith. Honorary pallbearers are the employees of the Lake City Post Office and rural mail carriers. Visitation will be from 5-7 Tuesday night at Emerson in Jonesboro.
