Rev. Floyd W. Porter, 89, of Jonesboro passed away Wednesday, December 25, 2024 at Craighead Nursing Center. He was born June 28, 1935 in Crowell, Texas to the late Thomas and Bertha Porter. Floyd was an ordained minister with the Assemblies of God for over 60 years. He pastored churches in Illinois, Missouri, Utah and Arkansas. He enjoyed gardening, yard work, wood working, and reading. Floyd was involved in several different church projects, building, and remodeling.
In addition to his parents, Floyd was preceded in death by his 2 brothers, Elbert Porter and Travis Porter and 3 sisters: Violet Porter, Vera Alcorn and Dollie Lanphier.
Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Faith Porter of the home; 3 daughters: Barbra (Stanley) Brown of Harrisburg, Becky (Marc) Rogers of Jonesboro, Rhonda (Alan) Decker of Jonesboro; 6 grandchildren: Nick (Ruth) Brown, Tiffany (Wally) Renshaw, Aaron Decker, Austin (Haley) Decker, Aubrey Decker, Alana Decker and 9 great-grandchildren: Emily Renshaw, Natalie Renshaw, Noah Renshaw, Elijah Renshaw, Izzy Brown, Zeke Brown, Titus Decker, Jude Decker and Zion Decker.
Funeral service will be Tuesday, December 31, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. in Emerson Memorial Chapel with Rev. Austin Decker officiating. Burial will follow at Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be Monday, December 30, 2024 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Emerson Funeral Home.
