Floyd Lee Vuncannon, 73, of Jonesboro passed from this life on Sunday, June 12, 2016 due to helicopter accident east of Jonesboro.
Floyd was born on March 7, 1943 in Booneville, Mississippi to the late Henry Sherman and Gertrue Henderson Vuncannon. He lived in Jonesboro over 30 years, and was owner operator of Floyd Vuncannon Contractors and Aviation. He had great compassion and was a very giving person. His favorite hobby was flying and he served the community for many years through his passion of aviation. He was a member of the Experimental Aircraft Association #437 here in Jonesboro, and he was a member of Community Fellowship Church.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one son, Michael Keith Vuncannon; and several brothers.
He is survived by his loving wife, Cathy Throgmartin Vuncannon; daughter, Dana Sheets and her husband Matt; two grandchildren, Erica and Emily Sheets; one brother, Pastor Don Vuncannon and his wife, Wanda, all of Jonesboro; and two nieces, Carol Vuncannon of Jonesboro and Reba Vuncannon of Trumann.
A memorial service will be at 2pm Saturday afternoon in the Emerson Memorial Chapel with Pastor Dave Burgess and Pastor Nevyn Gnagey officiating. Interment will be private with Emerson Funeral Home in charge of all arrangements.
Honorary pallbearers will be the members of the Experimental Aircraft Association #437.
