Floyd "Sonny" Moon

Mr. Elva Floyd “Sonny” Moon of Bay, departed this life Thursday, February 16, 2023, at the family residence at the age of 84 years, 3 months, and 16 days. He was born on Monday, October 31, 1938, in Bay, AR to the late Victor W. and Quida Elizabeth Jones Moon. He was a member of Bay Church of Christ. He was preceded in death by seven brothers: Tom Moon, James Moon, Bill Moon, Charlie Moon, Larry Moon, Paul Moon, and Jackie Moon; three sisters: Rochelle Moon Norman, Janette Moon Mabry, and Vickie Moon Holden.

Sonny worked for McLean Trucking Company in Memphis and retired after over 22 years. He was quite the gunsmith and had a strong passion for guns and knives. Sonny may have had a passion for gunsmithing, but nothing trumped his passion for his family. Sonny truly and deeply cared for his kids and especially his wife Margie.

Sonny is survived by the love of his life of 61 years, Margie Griffith Moon of the home; one son, Bryan (Monica) Moon; two daughters, Melinda Moon Davison and Cindy Moon (Jed) Anderson; one sister, LouAnne Moon; one brother, Craig Moon; eleven grandchildren, Michael Moon, Seth Moon, Jake Moon, Chris Mullins, Garrett Davison, Emily Davison, William “Will” Moon, Sarah Moon, Bailey Moon, Stivers Anderson, and Shaw Brooks Anderson; two great-grandchildren, Raylan Moon and Harper Moon.

A visitation will be held from 1:00 pm to 2:30 pm Monday, February 20, 2023 at Emerson Funeral Home. A committal service will be held immediately following the visitation at Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery.
