Floyd L. Winningham

Floyd L. Winningham, 78, of Jonesboro, died Sunday, July 8, 2007, at St. Bernard’s Medical Center. He was born in Denmark, Arkansas and had lived in Jonesboro since 1953.

He was a member of the Valley View Church of Christ, a member of the Kiwanis Club, past chairman of the Democratic Party for Craighead County and active in many local and state politics and civic organizations. He was president of Winningham Parts Warehouse Inc. and served his country in the US Navy during the Korean War.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Elizabeth Berry Winningham, two brothers, Othar and Orvil Winningham.

Survivors include his wife, Lois, of the home; one son, Rick Winningham and his wife Melinda of Bay, Arkansas; two daughters, Rhonda Eillis of Bono, and Sonya Spinner and her husband Tony of Jonesboro; one brother, Jim Winningham, Concord, Arkansas; three sisters, Odelene Vickers, Mountain View, Arkansas, Oleeta McCallister, Jonesboro, Irene Darcy, Fresno California. Also surviving are two grandchildren, Heather Ellis, Bono, Garrett Winningham, Bay; two great grandchildren, Caleb and Cameron Ellis of Bono.

Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, July 11, 2007 at the Valley View Church of Christ with David Gibson and G.W. Allison officiating and Emerson Funeral Home of Jonesboro in charge of arrangements. Pallbearers are Charles Jeffries, Steve Heath, Eddie Cooper, Jack Haskins, Albert Stanley and Von Patterson. Honorary pallbearers are Elbert Carr, Harry Park, Harold McDaniel, Willie Simpson, Hubert Brodell, Roy Bearden, Louis Spinner and Walter Matthews. A 3:00 P.M. graveside committal service will be held Wednesday at Evett Cemetery at Marcella Arkansas with Tommy Winningham, Tim Winningham, Gary Don Love, Terry Franks, Winfred Franks, Danny Franks, Allen Rexelle and Darrel Elms to serve as pallbearers.

For those wishing to leave lasting memorials, the family request you please consider the Children’s Home of Paragould, Arkansas. Visitation will be from 5 – 8 Tuesday night at Emerson Funeral Home.
