Floyd A. Dupwe, Sr., 97, of Jonesboro, died Friday at his home.
A native and life-long resident of Jonesboro, Floyd was a Field Supervisor for Bertig Cotton Company in Paragould for many years. He later classed cotton for the U.S. Department of Agriculture for 15 years before retiring. He was a vegetable gardener for most of his life.
Floyd was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church where he was active in the Knights of Columbus. He was a founding member of the Holy Cross Cemetery Committee and was preceded in death by his parents: David and Sally Dupwe, 2 brothers, 1 sister and a daughter-in-law: Kathleen Dupwe.
Survivors include his wife of 72 years, Mary Lucy Talley Dupwe, married November 8, 1936;
2 Sons and daughter-in-law: Floyd Dupwe, Jr., and Warren and Mila Dupwe, all of Jonesboro;
1 Daughter and son-in-law: Martha and Mickey Stafford of Jonesboro;
4 Grandchildren: Sherrie Mitchell, Doug Dupwe, Russell Dupwe and Brian Stafford and his wife, Jenine; and
2 Great Grandchildren: Megan Mitchell and Cody Dupwe.
A funeral mass will be held Monday morning at 11:00 at Blessed Sacrament Church in Jonesboro with Rev. Father Mark Wood officiating. Burial will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery.
Pallbearers include: Larry Brimhall, Lawrence Schneider, George Osborn, Lynn Wimberly, Bobby Puryear, and Jim Wilkins.
Visitation will be held Sunday evening, 6-8, in Emerson Memorial Chapel. A rosary service will be at 5:30 prior to visitation.
