Florida Tabayoyong Tagupa, 84, of Jonesboro, passed away Saturday, July 22, 2017, at her home of natural causes.
Born in Laoac, The Philippines, Florida moved to the United States in 1969. She lived in Gary, Indiana, before moving to Jonesboro 20 years ago. Florida earned a Masters degree in Education from the University of Indiana-NW and taught Gifted and Talented elementary school students during most of her teaching career.
Florida was of the Catholic faith and enjoyed crocheting, needlepoint, cooking, gardening and yard work. She was preceded in death by her husband, Zosimo Tacadena Tagupa and her brother, Rufo Cabacungan Tabayoyong.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law: Zoraida Tagupa Barre and husband Steve, and son and daughter-in-law: Dr. Eumar Tagupa and wife Kristie, all of Jonesboro;
6 sisters: Trinidad Moore, Sophing Bareng and Nancy Campos, all of Munster, Indiana; Rose Monahan of Skokie, Illinois, and Mary Finuliar and Nena Carbonell, both of Long Beach, California;
8 grandchildren: Jasmine Lorick, Alexis Tagupa, Heather Southe, Lauren Southe, Dominique "Nikki" Tagupa, Bailey Tagupa, Ella Tagupa and Luke Tagupa.
Memorial services and burial will be in The Philippines. There will be no local services or visitation.
