Florence A. Cooper, 75, of Jonesboro passed from this life Sunday, December 5, 2021 at St. Bernard’s Medical Center. She was born to the late Joe N. and Mary Martin on December 2, 1946 in Jonesboro. She was a lifelong resident of Jonesboro and was a faithful member of First Baptist Church.
Florence was a retired school teacher and had 28 years of service. She loved teaching and all of her students. Most of all, she loved her children and grandchildren very much and was so proud of her family and their accomplishments over the years.
In addition to her parents, Florence is preceded in death by her father in law, James Cooper.
Florence is survived by her husband of 43 years, Jimmy Cooper, of the home; mother in law, Azalee Cooper of Jonesboro; two sons, Tim (Christi) McCall and Jason (Amanda) McCall both of Jonesboro; sister, Mary Jo (Bob) Gibson of Jonesboro; three grandchildren, Morgan McCall (Matthew) Jones, Britton McCall, and Madeline McCall; and nieces and nephews, Andi Gibson (Rob) Carroll, Bobby (Staci) Gibson, and Susan Gibson Light (Dan McLain).
A visitation will be from 5-7 pm Tuesday, December 7, 2021 at Emerson Funeral Home.
A graveside service will be at 10:00 am Wednesday, December 8, 2021 at Philadelphia Cemetery with Ross Burton officiating. Active pallbearers will be: Marty Bennett, Kevin Hodges, Philip Jones, Josh Roberts, Matthew Jones, and Britton McCall. Honorary pallbearers will be Elbert Frazier, Louis Nissenbaum, Ted Hubbard, David Nelms, Gary Barton, Ben Owens, Chris Barber, and Dr. Jay Thompson.
