Fannie Mae Shipman

August 17, 1941 — May 21, 2019


Fannie Mae McCamey Shipman, 77, of Brookland stepped into the arms of Jesus after a battle with cancer May 21, 2019 at St. Bernard’s Medical Center in Jonesboro, Arkansas. She was born in Cash, Arkansas on August 17, 1941. She was the daughter of the late Adolph McCamey and Lucie Mae Pierce McCamey. She married the love of her life Herbert Edgar Shipman August 31, 1962. They were lifelong residents of Brookland, Arkansas.


Fannie graduated Brookland High School 1960 where she was a great basketball player. She graduated nursing school in August of 1963. Fannie worked from 1974-2017 for the Robinette Medical Clinic and spent her life using the talents God gave her in caring for her patients. She was a loving wife, mother, granny, nana, and grandma. She had such a gentle kind soul and enjoyed her family, friends and a good card game. Fannie was a member of Brookland United Methodist Church.


In addition to her parents, Fannie was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Shipman on September 23, 2018, two grandsons, Derek Dacus and Aaron Dacus; brothers, Dempsey McCamey and Travis McCamey.


Fannie leaves behind her four daughters that she adored, Cindy (Nolan) Belcher of Okolona, MS, Carla (Billy) Dacus of Brookland, AR, Holly (Jeff) Cox of Marmaduke, AR, Amy (Scotty) Grimes of Brookland, AR; her sisters, Bonnie Grantham of Jonesboro, AR, Shirley (Troy) Parker of Storey, AR, her brother, C.B. McCamey of Brookland, AR; grandchildren, Amanda (Howard) Parker of Waveland, MS, Eric Dacus of Brookland, AR, Lance (Courtney) Belcher of Amory, MS, Jessica (Levi) Brandon of Paragould, AR, Jacob Grimes of Brookland, AR, Mayla Cox of Marmaduke, AR, Will Grimes of Brookland, AR; great grandchildren, Jayden, Blakely, and Jemma; and a host of nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be from 6-8pm Friday, May 24, 2019 at Emerson Funeral Home.


A funeral service celebrating her life will be held at 1pm Saturday, May 25, 2019 at Brookland United Methodist Church with Brother Mike Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Pine Log Cemetery with active pallbearers being her grandsons: Eric Dacus, Lance Belcher, Jacob Grimes, Will Grimes, Levi Brandon, Howard Parker, and Jayden Martinez.


We would like to offer our sincere thanks and gratitude to Dr. Jaime Chavez for the love and compassion he gave mom and her girls the past few months. We will never forget the joy Dr. Chavez would give mom every time he would come to see her.
