Evelyn C. Underwood

Evelyn C. Underwood, 90, of Jonesboro died Friday, January 18, 2013 at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House. She had lived here since 1961, moving here from Crossett, Arkansas. Evelyn was an active member of the Cornerstone United Methodist Church. She retired from a life-long love of teaching and was a member of the NEA Retired Teachers Association. Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband, Morris C. Underwood, her parents, one brother and one sister.

Survivors include daughters, Rebecca Farley of Jonesboro; Barbara Chancellor (Darrell) of Winter Garden, Florida; Nancy Blanchard and DeAnn Pyle (Larry) of Jonesboro; six grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 2:00 PM, Tuesday, January 22, 2013 at the Cornerstone United Methodist Church with Chris Hemund and Jeanne Williams officiating and Emerson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Burial will be at Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery with Dan Hughes, Danny Jones, Jim Weathers, Bill Keith, Jack Sugg, Leonard McDaniel, Steve Schmidt and Bruce Barnes serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be the Friendship/Fellowship Sunday School Class. Visitation will be from 5-7 Monday night at Emerson Funeral Home.
