Ruth Evelyn Russell, 86, of Jonesboro passed away on Tuesday, January 24, 2017 at St. Elizabeth’s Place.

She was born September 4, 1930 in Trumann to the late William and Marie Stamp. Evelyn had lived in Jonesboro most of her life and was a homemaker. Her hobbies included working in her garden and working with her flower gardens. She was a member of the Stone Street First Assembly of God Church. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Elmo Russell; son, Marion Russell; daughter, Louise Russell; grandson, Jonathan Russell; and four brothers.

She is survived by sons, Lymon Russell (Ruby) of Jonesboro and Gaylon Russell (Pam) of Pocahontas; daughters, Sheila Bearden of Jonesboro, Paula Nicholson (Vernon) of Farmington, Missouri and Sharon Pope of Bono; 13 grandchildren 16 great grandchildren and 5 great great-grandchildren; brother, Freddie Stamp of Michigan; sisters, Phyllis Stamp of California and Bernice Kilough of Dalton; and a host of other family and friends.

Funeral services will be at 2pm on Thursday at Emerson Funeral Home with Rev. Gaylon Russell officiating. Burial will be at Pine Hill Cemetery with Emerson Funeral Home in charge of all arrangements.

Honored to serve as pallbearers will be Charles Russell, Michael Russell, Nick Russell, Matt Bearden, Blake Bearden, Zack Pope, and Vernon Nicholson.

Visitation will be Wednesday evening from 5-7pm at Emerson Funeral Home.
