Evelyn L. Fisher

November 16, 1921 — September 7, 2015

Evelyn L. Fisher, 94, of Jonesboro passed from this life September 7, 2015 at NEA Baptist Memorial Hospital. She was born to the late Herschel and Ida Neeley on November 16, 1921 in Stoy, Illinois. Evelyn resided here in Jonesboro since 1941 after coming from Sanford, Texas. Evelyn was a longtime member of Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church and was a very involved member during her time spent there.

Evelyn was such a loving woman who cared so much about her family. She was a very outgoing woman who loved traveling, site seeing, and playing cards with her friends. Evelyn also loved to play golf in her spare time as well. Evelyn was known by her outgoing personality and was given the nick name “Tiger” cause she was always on the go. She owned and operated several apartments across the street from ASU. Through the years had many college students pass through that called her Mom/ Grandma because she took care of them while they were away from home.

In addition to her parents: Herschel and Ida Neeley; Evelyn is preceded in death by her husband of 37 years, L.C. “Jack” Fisher; one daughter: Alice Jane Fisher; three brothers: Bob Neeley, Ben Neeley, and David Neeley; and one sister: Deloris Wooten.

Evelyn is survived by three daughters: Jackie (Bob) Glaeser of Renton, Washington, Sharrie Sain of the home, and Kay (Phillip) Niell of Jonesboro; one sister: May Brazeal of Wheeler, Texas; nine grandchildren: Chad (Pam) Niell, Richmond (Robin) Niell, Bradley (Katina) Niell, Margie Sain, Lloyd Glaeser, Alisha (Scott) Bennett, Russell (Kathy) Glaeser, Sharlice Baker, and Roger Morrison; five great grandchildren; and one great great grandchildren.

A visitation will be from 5 – 7 p.m. Thursday, September 10, 2015 at Emerson Funeral Home.

A funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Friday, September 11, 2015 at Emerson Memorial Chapel with Jim Stillwell and Elizabeth Gersch officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Grove Cemetery with Chad Niell, Richard Niell, Bradley Niell, Margie Sain, Branston Niell, and Nathan Niell, Tommy Glover, and Nathan Head all serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will include the members of Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church.
