Eva Nell Wimp Bearden, 81 of Jonesboro, died Sunday at her home. Coming from Maynard at a young age, she had lived in Jonesboro most of her life. She was a member of the Southwest Church of Christ and had worked as a Registered Nurse before becoming a homemaker to raise her children. In addition to being a devoted wife and mother, Mrs. Bearden loved her grandchildren with all of her heart.
She is survived by her husband Judge Roy Bearden, of the home; two sons, Roy Cecil Bearden and his wife Angie of Knoxville, TN, and Donald Bearden and his wife Sherri of Jonesboro, two daughters; Barbara Bearden of Little Rock and Donna Parsons and her husband Danny of Jonesboro. Also she is survived by one brother, Dr. Ralph Wimp and his wife Mary Beth of Fulton, MO, as well as ten grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and twelve brothers and sisters.
A Funeral service will be on Thursday at Emerson Memorial Chapel at 2 p.m. Active Pallbearers for the service will be Rick Barker, Danny Parsons, Louis Bearden, Andrew Bearden, Christopher Bearden, Jonathan Denisco, Jake Robinson, Evan Underwood and Larry Kelley. Winston Burton and Kenneth Gossett will be officiating.
Honorary Pallbearers are Hubert Brodell, Melvin Womack, Melvin Brown, Marvin Stillwell, Dr. Michael Tedder, and all of her loving grandchildren.
A visitation will be held from 5-8 Wednesday evening at Emerson Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that consideration be given to the Food Pantry at Southwest Church of Christ and the local Girl and Boy Scouts organizations.
